About LifeSpan
LifeSpan has been providing high quality early care and education to children and families since 1986. As a recognized leader in the field, we continue to focus on the education of young children while providing a safe and healthy environment in which to learn. Parents today recognize that quality child care that offers creative learning with a hands-on approach leads to a lifetime of experiential learning. “Great beginnings last a lifespan.” LifeSpan is proud to be a resource that does just that. With a dedicated, experienced team and an understanding of children and the needs of working parents, LifeSpan delivers a creative curriculum for children ages 6 weeks to 13 years. We operate from 6 am to 6 pm year long. We operate under the licensure of the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Pennsylvania Department of Education and the Child and Adult Care Food Program. Each center participates in the Keystone STARS quality initiative with all centers certified a STAR 3 level or above.
LifeSpan Child Care is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
Our Philosophy
LifeSpan’s approach to providing high quality early childhood education and care has evolved since 1986, while maintaining its core philosophy of understanding, guiding and educating children, their parents and the community. LifeSpan implements the Creative Curriculum by Teaching Strategies. The Creative Curriculum is based on five fundamental principles:
- Positive interactions and relationships with adults provide a critical foundation for successful learning.
- Social-emotional competence is a significant factor in school success.
- Constructive purposeful play supports essential learning.
- The physical environment affects the type and quality of learning interactions.
- Teacher-family partnerships promote development and learning.
The key to our success is our professional and competent teaching staff. LifeSpan teachers have a deep knowledge of child development, an understanding of early childhood content and a broad range of instructional strategies to make learning meaningful and relevant. LifeSpan teachers use the Pennsylvania Early learning standards to develop age appropriate activities to actively engage your child in the learning process. Teachers participate in ongoing professional development in best practices for early care and education, and are credentialed or degreed.
